Story
Having trained for the marathon last year, living with ice packs strapped to my shins due to crippling shin splints and then it being cancelled a month before race day, I am completely 100,000% dreading starting up again. (UPDATE: they’re back…) However it’s a cause I’m incredibly passionate about, more so now than when I started fundraising 2 years ago, so here we go...
On the 3rd of October I will be running the London Marathon! Whilst I gained an entry through the ballot (entered on a whim and now here we are…) and after the amazing generosity of you all, I have decided to set myself the target of raising £2000 for the MS Society.
As most of you are probably aware, my Aunty Lynne was diagnosed with MS just one month before I was born, and so I have seen first hand the effects of MS and the challenges it throws, including permanent wheelchair use. Unfortunately though, in recent years I have also seen one of my best friends cope with her Dad’s journey with MS, something which is unimaginably difficult. It’s hard to see the change and vulnerability that MS brings to those you love and so it's a cause that is very close to my heart.
For those that don’t know, MS stands for Multiple Sclerosis and is a neurological condition which attacks the body’s nervous system, leading to muscle stiffness, spasms and even paralysis (amongst other things). Although everyone’s experience with MS is different, either relapsing-remitting or progressive, once diagnosed it stays with you for life and often requires a level of outside care.
MS Society is a charity which helps those diagnosed with MS to live well and is also helping to fund research in finding a cure for this disease. So, it would be incredible if I could contribute £2000 to aid their continued research and support for patients and families currently affected by it. Please help make all of the shin splints and blisters worth it by donating to help fight this condition!! I am so thankful for all donations, so please get sponsoring!
Thank you!!
