My Story.......
In mid November 2018 I attended my three yearly mammogram. Only 10 days later I received a letter through the door asking me to attend "The Linda McCartney Suite" based at The Royal Liverpool Hospital. At my appointment I had 3 mammograms and 3 biopsies. On my next follow up appointment I met professor Holcombe it was confirmed that I had a tumour in my right Breast which measured 1cm. I was told I would need surgery which was set for 28th December 2018. After surgery I was informed that the tumour had grown in size by another 1.4 cm.... And yes it was malignant "That dreaded word"...... I also had to undergo 15 sessions of radiotherapy and I am now in recovery. I want everyone to be aware that I had no symptoms whatsoever and it was only my routine mammogram that picked up on my breast cancer. So please make sure your up to date with all your appointments because as you read my tumour was growing every day. I consider myself "extremely lucky" and I am hoping to raise loads and loads for The Clatterbridge centre to build their newest hospital based in Liverpool.
I would like to say a special thank you to everyone involved from the mammogram unit to the staff at the Linda McCarney unit, Macmillan nurses, Marina Dalglish Unit, Radioligists, Radiographers, reception staff. You are all Angels in disguise. And a special thank you to all of my family who have been there from the beginning....THANK YOU....
