Urgent funds are needed for medical supplies to meet the needs.
The situation in North West Syria is devastating. An area which pre-conflict had a population of 700,000 people now holds nearly 4 million (just picture the whole of Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle combined). With the added destruction caused by increased fighting it is a hell-on-earth for the civilians who are caught in the middle.
Since December 900,000 further people have fled northwards compacting the area near the Turkish border which is not allowing people through. There is literally nowhere for these people to go. It is cold, wet and there are reports of children freezing to death. The massive influx of people in the area places a huge burden on the existing health services and supplies.
In response we are raising as much as we can to provide medical supplies to mobile health clinics in Idlib and a maternity hospital operating in Afrin. These are implemented on the ground by our long-term partner SAMS.
