Story
Yesterday I tripped over nothing whilst walking to work and found myself sprawled across the pavement with grazed knees. Any of you that know me, know that I am not a ‘natural’ runner. However, on the 28th April next year I will be attempting to run (or realistically walk/crawl/scramble through) the London Marathon for the NSPCC.
I’ve been volunteering as a ChildLine counsellor for the NSPCC for over 6 months. Childline is a free 24-hour counselling service for all children. Last year alone, ChildLine’s trained volunteers gave 295,000 counselling sessions. The service has helped over 4 million children since launching.
From day 1 of my training as a counsellor I have been truly inspired by every individual I have met who is involved with ChildLine; the Staff trainers and supervisors who are so committed to the success of the service, fellow volunteers who give their time selflessly and above all, each and every young person that has contacted ChildLine. The courage, strength and resilience these children and young people show when contacting ChildLine is admirable. I believe that every young person should be listened to and made to feel like they matter.
Please help me to help the NSPCC make this happen.
Little or lots, your donations will make a difference not just to ChildLine but to all of the children’s services provided by the NSPCC that are keeping children safe:
£4 could pay for 1 of our trained volunteer counsellors to answer a child's call for help to Childline
£5 could cover the cost of answering a call to the NSPCC helpline
£25 could pay for a trained practitioner to deliver 1 hour of Pregnancy in Mind to help new parents with the ups and downs of having a baby
£555 could cover the cost for our Speak out Stay safe programme to visit 1 primary school and speak to every child aged 5-11
£1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a new Childline volunteer.
For many children and young people ChildLine really is a lifeline.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page (and hopefully donating). I’ll be organising various fundraising events and baking lots of cakes to try and hit this huge target so please keep your eyes peeled and get involved where you can. I’ll be sure to keep you all updated with my progress.
Your support means so much to me and each young person that seeks the support of ChildLine. Training starts once my knees have healed! Wish me luck! I have a feeling I might need it!
Lots and lots of love, Rose xx
