Story
Two years ago, my beautiful nephew Henry was born prematurely at 27 weeks and suffered a brain bleed, resulting in permanent damage to the areas of his brain which control movement. As a result, he has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which affects his ability to do many things we take for granted - sitting, crawling, standing and walking. Despite these challenges, he is always smiling, and is a determined, funny and confident little boy.
Henry’s Wish to Walk has been set up to raise money for Henry to have life changing surgery to help him walk independently one day. The surgery Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), which although invasive has a high success rate, aims to reduce spasticity (tight and stiff muscle tone) in the lower limbs and increase mobility and independence.
In June I will be completing the Three Peaks Challenge - climbing the three highest mountains in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in a 24 hour period, along with Daisy and Ben, to raise as much as I can. All funds raised will contribute to the costs of the surgery, intensive physiotherapy which is required afterwards, and essential physic equipment.
Myself and my family would very much appreciate your support in donating anything you can, to help give Henry the best possible chance to walk. Thank you xx
