Story
On 14th June 2015 Kelly Stokes, Rosie Bell, Emma Dempster, Emma Dewar, Rachel Baxter and Vicki Jones will be running the Liverpool Rock n Roll Half Marathon to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
This is a cause very close to our hearts following Kelly's daughter Ava's diagnosis with a rare form of liver cancer at only 19 months old, and Rosie's son Daniel's diagnosis with a brain tumour aged just 3. The treatment and care that Ava and Daniel have received, and continue to receive, at Alder Hey has been world class. It truly is a remarkable place and there is nothing we could ever do that would repay the Doctors, Nurses, Play Specialists, Surgeons and Physios that helped Ava and Daniel. But we can help to make the hospital an even better place for them to work and for children to receive treatment by raising money for this amazing cause.
On 14th June we will be staggering 13.1 miles and no doubt suffering, but this is nothing compared to what the kids at Alder Hey, and the staff, deal with every day. They, along with Ava and Daniel, will be our inspiration and we'll think of them with every step. On this day last year Ava and Daniel were both in Alder Hey, Ava for surgery on her lungs and Daniel for surgery on his brain. How far they've come in that time is testament to this truly remarkable hospital that we are fortunate enough to have close by. So please please dig deep and sponsor us to make it an even better place to work and stay. Help us make a difference.
