Story
*** Thank you so much for supporting this fundraiser. It means the world to me. This is the rescheduled Brighton Marathon from 2020 ***
The backstory
Back in May 2019, after tackling 26 miles, half of which were against strong headwinds, I crossed over the Edinburgh Marathon finishing line saying only two words on repeat: never again.
It was my second marathon, that I boldly took on 6 weeks after my first ever marathon and neither race went according to plan and I wasn't sure if long distance running was something I would ever want to revisit.
However, 2019 was a year of big life changing events which paled my races into insignificance. Most importantly, my two best friends Jamie and Rachel brought little Eadie into this world, the happiest and cutest small human I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Unfortunately, Little Eadie has had a tough start to life which has meant a long stay in hospital for around the clock care. Thanks to the help of Ronald McDonald House Charity, Jamie and Rachel could be near her side every step of the way being the best parents you could imagine.
I wanted to run Brighton Marathon again in 2020 to try and raise money for this brilliant charity to say thank you for the support they offered to my best friends during this difficult time. It would also be lovely to support other families that might have to go through something similar.
P.S I never thought I would be running for McDonalds but for extra irony and to promote a plant based lifestyle I'll be wearing my vegan running shirt during the run and not, as Lewis suggested as Ronald McDonald himself (or the Hamburglar).
More about the charity
Ronald McDonald House Charities provides free 'home away from home' accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life. There are many families who need support. To help build even more Houses across the UK, I will be running #forRMHC at the Brighton Marathon 2020. Please help Ronald McDonald House Charities to keep more families with their sick children by donating and supporting. Thank you.
