Story
After weeks of injury (and accompanying misery!) I've decided to drag my disappointing legs around the London Marathon course once more, for a really special cause.
Shelter From The Storm is the only free emergency homeless shelter in London. It has no political or religious affiliations and relies solely on donations to keep running. It takes anyone, regardless of their access to funding, and offers a safe place for some of the most vulnerable people in our society - people fleeing torture, forced marriage, domestic violence, trafficking for work or sex, discrimination due to sexual orientation and some who've just fallen through the cracks of our society.
I volunteer at Shelter From the Storm every Sunday, so I know how important the place is and I can promise that every penny you donate will be put to good use. As well as providing food and shelter, the team work tirelessly to help each guest out of their situation - including getting them into work, moving them into permanent accommodation, or helping them to return to their homes.
We currently have beds for 42 guests, but they are always full and sadly we turn away around 20 more people every night. With more funding so much more could be achieved.
