TCS London Marathon 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I am running in memory of my wonderful Dad who unfortunately lost his battle with cancer in October 2024. He was diagnosed with an unexpected and aggressive brain tumour in May 2023 whilst away with work abroad. Needing to undergo emergency surgery, he was flown back home and taken to Southmead Hospital for the emergency removal of the tumour. Whilst the surgery was successful, he underwent multiple radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment courses to try and remove any cancerous cells remaining after the operation. The radiotherapy and chemotherapy were been extremely debilitating and after so many treatments, the side effects took their toll. Although the treatments slowed the growth, Glioblastomas are incredibly intense and vicious tumours and it continued to grow - he fought with all his strength right until the end, but like so many others diagnosed with a glioblastoma, unfortunately lost an almost impossible battle.
I am running for Macmillan because they provide a vital service to those going through the cancer journey and they need all the support they can get. They provide vital cancer services by supporting the cancer workforce, providing vital equipment and dedicated Macmillan nurses in hospitals, who directly supported my family through our tough battle. More and more people are being diagnosed each year and increased funding is vital for Macmillan to continue their amazing work.
As a runner, this will be my first marathon - I love running but this will be the furthest I have ever trained for. Any support will be greatly received and you can follow my training journey here!
