Inspired by my good friend, Tom Taylor, who successfully completed this year's London Marathon; I decided to enter for next year's race and was pleased to accept a charity place from Diabetes UK.
I started running at the beginning of the year. So far, i have completed two half marathons at Loughborough and Derby. I will also be running in the Milton Keynes half marathon at the beginning of December. I enjoy running and the challenge of improving my times.
Completing the London Marathon will no doubt be the biggest challenge I have ever set myself... 26 gruelling miles where I will push my body and mind to the limit! However, I am prepared to put hours of training in to make sure I am in the best shape possible at the start line (even cutting down on the drink!)
I have chosen to run for Diabetes UK as it is a charity that is close to my heart. I have seen first hand what this awful disease can do. My Dad has been suffering with Diabetes for over 20 years and has had numerous amputations and complications attributed to the disease. A close family friend also had to have his leg amputated as a result of complications of diabetes. Diabetes has a massive impact on the person who is suffering with the disease and their family.. it can be devastating.
Thanks for reading my story; please donate and help me to reach and hopefully surpass my target!
