Every year, 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord from a broken back or neck. Spinal Research raises money to fund research into clinical treatments as well as vital basic science research.

This is a change from previous years when I have raised funds for WaterAid.....and many of you will know why I'm now focusing on Spinal Research. It's a worthy charity that funds research into therapies that aim to restore movement and feeling and transform the lives of those who have suffered from spinal cord injury. 

So please sponsor me in my 3 day challenge to brave the stormy waters of the Firth of Clyde sailing with 18 colleagues in 3 yachts from Largs to Tarbert and back between 19 and 21 September.
