Story
In memory of my dad, Conor Quinn, who passed away just over a year ago, and to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, I have signed up to try and complete the full distance Ironman in Cascais, Portugal on the 23rd October 2021 within the allocated time of 16 hours. The 'race' consists of a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km bike ride and then a full marathon, a further 42km. Knowing that Dad will be there in spirit cheering me on will hopefully get me to the finish line.
Alzheimer's affects people's memory, thinking and behaviour and unfortunately this all happened to Dad over his last few years. The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and advocates for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their wonderful carers.
Throughout dad's illness, the family availed of a number of their services and we will be forever grateful for their help and assistance.
Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
