As a school we are training two of our year groups to complete a 5k run. Participation numbers will be around 400 pupils spread over 4 events. Some will see it as a competitive race while some will wonder how they will complete the distance. All will be raising money for the charity 'back up'.
We have chosen this charity to support the great work that they do in helping newly-injured patients who suffer from paralysis to adapt to the challenges they face.
Ex Romsey school pupil, Sean McCallion (1986-91), suffered such an injury from a snowboarding accident up in Scotland over 20 years ago. After spending nearly a year in Salisbury hospital one of the first things Sean did was to attend an Activity Weekend led by 'Back Up'. He has not looked back since and is a role model to us all of how to make the most of life!
Sean now works for the Back Up trust helping to transform lives and change perceptions of what is possible after injury. Please, look him up and see what one of our own has achieved with his life when faced with extreme adversity.
Happy fundraising!
