As an alternative to "stepping out" this year I am on my bike travelling a proxy journey from Romanby to John O'Groats around the lanes of North Yorkshire in a series of bite size stages.

• Weds 3 May - I passed Jedburgh in the borders
• Fri 5 May - A proper soaking - pesky Scottish weather
• Sun 7 May - I crossed the Forth Road Bridge (181 miles)
• Tues 10 May -  I have passed Perth on route to the highlands
• Thurs 11 May - Passed through Aviemore (291 miles)
• Sun 14 May - At the gates of Inverness (337 miles)
• Thurs 18 May - Bike fixed and on the way to Wick (422 miles)
• Weds 24 May - Safely arrived in John O'Groats
