Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those who know me well, know that I have run Marathons before but this has been a tough two years after my initial diagnosis in April 2016 and subsequent Stage 4 terminal diagnosis in February 2017.
But my objectives remain to live and be well as long as possible and this run is part of that selfishly.
But it is not really about me running or sitting in a bath of beans or whatever ... and patting myself on the back. It is about Melanoma UK and the work they do. It is a small highly engaged and personal charity that offers some money into cancer research but also devotes a lot of time directly into helping patients and their familes through travel grants, holiday funds, a caring knowledable voice at the end of the phone, and a hundred other things. The charity was set up by Gillian after she lost a dear friend Jon 10years ago and she holds true to the principles when she first set it up.
She has become a personal friend of mine and someone I have come to respect and deeply admire for the work she does - hence why I have set myself such a large donation target for what is, ultimately, a relatively small commitment from me.
Please be generous. I know we all get bombarded with charity demands, crowd funding, chuggers, etc .... and we all do what we can. I like this one because you can donate and specifically contribute to what you want to spend the money on.
If you want to know my journey to date ... please watch my You Tube Video below (thank you to Jess Staley for an awesome job producing this. There will be a full version out next month before I run .... watch this space.
