Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page
UPDATE
I'm very pleased to report that all twelve team members made it to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It was the most physically demanding challenge I've ever done, and I'm likely to do, in my life.
Eight team members spent four days helping to decorate eight classrooms (the size of a squash court) for Uru Primary School in Moshi. We could see Mount Kilimanjaro from our campsite on the school's playing field.
Thank you very much to everyone who has sponsored me on and offline. If you are reading this and haven't sponsored me, but would like to, it's not too late, as this fundraising page will remain active until 27 November.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE
I will be climbing (5895 metres); the highest mountain in and the largest freestanding mountain in the world; with The Really Wild Travel Company www.reallywildtravel.com.
I'm reasonably fit (attend British Military Fitness sessions) and will be doing some ‘training’ walks, but nothing will prepare me for altitude sickness; a serious side-effect of walking above 3000 metres.
I’m raising funds for the Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy (GTCC) www.gtcc.org.uk incorporating the Guildford Street Angels programme; which has helped to reduce street crime in
GTCC will share a proportion of the funds raised through the challenge, with its partner charities in Tanzania, working with disadvantaged children and adults in the Moshi area.
In the second week of the expedition, I will have a volunteer placement with one of the partner charities; living in a village community and working on a renovation/refurbishment or construction focused project. A proportion of the money raised will be used to buy materials and any local labour required for the project.
I would be very grateful if you were able to sponsor me - your sponsorship would motivate me to complete the challenge, and help me to raise funds for GTCC and the two charities based in Tanzania.
