We Support heart heroes and their families to enable them to reach full potential

Story

Grace was born November 26th 2019, shortly after her birth  she was diagnosed with a mild heart problem. After investigation she was diagnosed with a condition called Cardiomyopathy. With medication Grace seemed to be coping fine.

On 15th March 2015 2020 Grace started being sick, would not drink her formula and her breathing changed. Her parents took her to hospital and this was when their life got turned upside down.

Grace was transferred by air ambulance to the Freeman’s Hospital Newcastle where she was put on Levitronix VAD.

19th May 2020 she had the Berlin Heart fitted, since then she was taken off the ventilator and no longer sedated she still has a long way to go waiting for the heart transplant.

This happened through COVID-19 lock down putting her parents 4 year old brother and their families under a lot of pressure and stress.

Grace is now developing into a very happy and smiley little girl who enjoys all the attention she receive from the dedicated doctors n nurses looking after her.

During their time in Newcastle they are being supported by CHUF (Children’s Heart Unit Fund) without their support her parent feel they would not have been able to cope. The parents and families are so grateful and are wondering how they could repay the charity that have given so much support to them.

Grace’s uncle is a member of DKRFC old boars and with the support of the club and team mates has organised a 393 mile static cycle ride to Belgium to raise some funds for this very worthwhile charity. Dig deep guys and donate please.

CHUF's mission is to make life better for children and young people who are born with or who develop heart conditions by providing lifelong support to them and their families.
