Rohan and Ned's Sleep Out

Rohan Mer is raising money for Centrepoint

Rohan's Sleep Out · 8 November 2020

Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homeless charity. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 16-25 year olds into a home and a job every year. Our award-winning helpline provides support to vulnerable young people across the country. We campaign to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Story

The Challenge

Thank you for coming to our fundraising page. This Friday, Ned and I will be spending a day and a night on the streets in support of Centrepoint. We'll only be taking a sleeping bag, warm clothes and a meagre amount of money for food. Although this is, of course, in no way recreating the true harsh reality of being homeless, it will give us an idea of the situation nearly 100,000 young people in the UK find themselves in, while also supporting those who face this as a reality. As you can imagine, the pandemic has led to an increase in homelessness while charity donations have been falling - any donation would mean a lot!

About Centrepoint

Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity. They provide accommodation, health support and life skills to get homeless young people back into education, training and employment. Their holistic approach to tackling youth homelessness has led to some incredible results. Young people that come to Centrepoint are able to stay for up to two years. An amazing 88% of these young people then move into their own homes, reconnect with their families, get their first jobs or go to university. Their aim is not just to house homeless youth but work with them to find long-term solutions to get them out of their difficult situation.

Sponsoring a room at Centrepoint is only £12 a month. Although a one-off donation to this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated, a regular, predictable donation like this allows the charity to plan and support those in need with much more certainty. Please visit https://centrepoint.org.uk/turningpoint to donate this way instead. If you let me know the amount and term you've donated for I'll add this to the fundraising total!
