Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
October 9-15 is 'baby loss awareness week' and, along with my friends and colleagues at the Tommy's supported Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester, I am contributing to taking 2 million steps - one in memory of each baby who is sadly stillborn every year.
I am passionate about furthering knowledge and understanding about the factors that contribute to a healthy happy pregnancy. What is usually a joyous event can, in too many cases, become a period of utter devastation as a result of complications during the pregnancy journey. From difficulties in conceiving through to placental dysfunction and still birth, there is still much to learn. Tommy's helps! It helps support patients to have safe pregnancies. It helps support those who have lost babies. And it supports research to try to prevent pregnancy complication and loss. It's been a tough time for charities and so I want to try and make some contribution to this excellent cause.
At the start of 2021 I started running properly again. I set myself some targets and since then I have managed to keep going. Target 1 - 1000km in a year. Target 2 - break the 50 min for 10km. Target 3 - run a half marathon every month. It's going OK, but I didn't run a half in January, so at some stage I need to do two in a month. So, I have opted to make my double-month October and it will take the form of The Yorkshire Marathon. If you want to see my progress you can find me on Strava
That's the story. I am doing some running. And I'd like to raise some funds so, any and all contributions - no matter the size - WILL make a difference. To my motivation and to Tommys. So please, dig as deep as you are able to support this outstanding cause.
