Story
The Berwick and District Cancer Support Group is a small local charity that performs a big, life-saving role, helping those with cancer.
More fondly known as "Berwick Cancer Cars" was founded 31 years ago to alleviate the enormous difficulties faced by cancer patients to reach their cancer related treatments and appointments. Over the years the charity has helped thousands of people touched by cancer. Our area still faces these same difficulties as our nearest major hospitals are over 60 miles away. For many this journey is very challenging, for some it is almost impossible without transport assistance. Berwick Cancer Cars provides a genuine life-line.
Run entirely by volunteers and receiving no national funding, Berwick Cancer Cars has helped thousands of people who are battling cancer to reach their hospital appointments free of charge, in safety, in comfort and without worry to them or to their loved ones.
I am proud to be directly involved as one of its team of volunteer Committee members, as their Media Representative, a Driver and Great North Run 2023 Team Coordinator.
This is my third year running as part of the amazingly friendly Berwick Cancer Cars Great North Run Team (and what an amazingly friendly bunch they all are!) and am proud to be heading up our GNR Team for the second year. I would be so very honoured if you would help me in my efforts to support those with cancer across our amazing Berwick and District community.
As the Berwick and District Cancer Support Group relies wholly on donations and fundraising, every pound sponsored makes a genuine and lasting difference.
