Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking on the "Malawi Bike Ride 2022" challenge this August, raising funds for EMMS International. I will be cycling 365 miles over the month, being the length of Lake Malawi - but I'll be doing it in Scotland! You can follow my journey through the month on the Strava link (from the start of August).

I am doing this as I want to help EMMS provide valuable support for girls and young women in the more remote parts of Malawi. I want them to be able to receive the healthcare, education and improved standards of living that we all take for granted. This in turn can enable these young people to become more independent and in control of their own lives and futures, able to become role models for their communities.

My own first contact with EMMS was in 1983 when, as a medical student, I spent time at the Nazareth Hospital, Israel. I have kept an interest in the organisation as it has evolved since then.
