Story
Hi everyone.
I completed the challenge on Sunday - 82 miles in 7hrs and 5 mins. The hills were tougher than I thought and the wind was against us on the way back so I thought I might give up at one point! Luckily I had some food and drink to revive myself and I gave myself a talking to and carried on to the finish.
Thanks to all of you who supported the charity and helped me have the strength to finish.
I have put a few photos up to show I can ride a bike.
Roger. :-)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I am raising money for the charity that supports 1 of my sisters who has Multiple Sclerosis. This is a dibillitating disease which affects the nervous system and little is known about how to treat it. The MSRC charity provides help and advice to the sufferers and their families.
This spring I am 51 years old and I am attempting the 80 mile Somerset Hills Gran Fondo. (see here for details - http://www.somersetgranfondo.co.uk/medio_fondo_details.html)
This starts off up the famous Cheddar Gorge, which is a 5 mile climb, then off across the Mendips to the Quantock hills, including up a 1 mile 1:4 hill (ouch !!).
(I like the downhill bits best :-)
My training has been a bit patchy and I am late asking for your money, but I am sure I will pull through on both counts.
Please give whatever you can as every penny enables the charity to help someone like my sister.
