Story
As you may know I had cancer four years ago but came through it thanks to some brilliant service from the NHS.
Unfortunately a very good local friend of mine was less fortunate and sadly lost his battle with leukaemia last year.
Ever since then I have had it in my mind to raise money for the Maggie Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford who provide support for cancer patients and their families ‒ and whom Jacky and I found wonderfully helpful.
I leave Land’s End on August 28th and all being well ‒ 12 days and just over 1,000 miles later ‒ we arrive at John O’Groats!
While I remain pretty fit for a man of such very considerable years, I currently cycle on average no more than 40 miles per week. 85 miles per day for 12 consecutive days therefore represents a pretty major challenge but I am hoping that the prospect of raising money for a very worthy cause will keep me going.
I have quite an ambitious fundraising target so I very much hope you will be able to help.
Many Thanks in anticipation!
