Doddie Cup 500 · 12 February 2022 to 12 March 2022 ·

At 10am on 10th February 2022, over 100 cyclists will leave BT Murrayfield Stadium with the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup. Their aim will be to get to the Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, in time for the KO of the Wales v Scotland match.

Story

On February 10 2022, our team of 4 riders will leave Murrayfield to cycle to the Principality Stadium. We will continuously ride the 500 miles as a relay team to Wales from Scotland arriving in time for the kick-off of the match on Saturday 12 2022. A total of 20 teams hope to raise over £50,000 for the charity.

I had the privilege to briefly meet Doddie Weir at a book signing at RBS Gogarburn at the Blackwell's bookshop back in November 2018. I came away really impressed with his outlook and humility. What an amazing human being.

On a personal note, my parish at St. Margaret's in South Queensferry lost our much loved parish priest Fr. Tony MacDonald to MND in 2016 and I would like to dedicate my ride in his memory. Another remarkable and much missed man.

Any sponsorship will be gratefully received to help support the work of "My Name's Doddie Foundation". So far they have ploughed £6.5m into MND research in the last 4 years, and the hope is that a breakthrough in treatment will be just round the corner, in time for Doddie, and to help the countless future victims of MND.

Thank you for your generous support. Roddy
