Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Year five and we are back... This year there are many of the Roddi's Riders veterans looking as strong as ever but with some exciting team additions! We are short of several members this year but for the best of reasons... Good luck Karen and Scott with the baby and enjoy the honeymoon sisterJo! However no matter who is riding, the reasons for our ride are still as crucial as ever. Our main reason is the memory of my lovely daddy RODERICK TEARLE who lost his short fight to Leukaemia eight years ago and whom I still miss every day. Blood cancer is becoming more common but with the research this charity undertakes it can become less prevalent. This year I also want to dedicate our team to a very strong lady SUE KINDELL. Sue was the mother of my childhood friend Michelle and recently a grandmother to two children at my nursery. The day after dad had been diagnosed, Michelle rang me with the same news that her mum was also ill with Leukaemia. It was such an awful coincidence and we supported each other in the months to come. But whereas dad passed away within two months, Sue fought and only died in February of this year. Because of research Sue managed to lead a fulfilling life as part of her family whilst receiving treatment. Michelle's brother Danny will be part of the team although Michelle will be in a supporting role as she is expecting her first child. Sue will be in our minds throughout every one of those 52 miles! I know that charity requests are a huge part of everyone's life but even £1 could make a difference. Last year we raised £10,000 and one of the results of this research can be seen in LOUIS who was at the heart of our fundraising then. His family will cycle again this year and he is such an amazing child who has been fighting so hard everyday for the past four years and who is winning. Louis left the nursery this term to start school in September. He has four months left of his treatment and in November will go into remission. This alone is a reason to support our team. Thank you for your time and please if you can spare anything, sponsor us today. Love Zoe and Roddi's Riders. xxxxxxxxxxx
