We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

We take on this challenge in memory of Laura Stephenson. We, as a team of six, will be cycling 150 miles, IN A DAY, from coast to coast, with 4,500m of elevation thrown in for good measure. We hope to raise as much money as possible as a donation to Bowel Cancer UK so that they can carry on researching and providing support to those diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The team taking on this challenge are: Shaun Heys, Phillip Clarkson, Filippo Pasquini, Joe Partridge, Andy Stoneman and Ben Leaver. Shaun, Philip and Filippo all work together at ROCOL and wanted to take on this challenge to promote healthy lifestyles at work. The fact we can raise money for such a worthwhile charity at the same time is big plus. Joe, Andy and Ben are all close friends of Shaun's and know the journey the family has been through and all wanted to do what they can to help make this challenge a success.

Special thanks to Andy for designed the fantastic kit we'll all be wearing!

Now, a little about Laura's story...

Laura Stephenson was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2018. She fought an incredible fight and never once gave up!

On Saturday 28th December 2019, Laura Stephenson, an incredible wife to her husband Mark and the most amazing mother to her 3 girls, passed away surrounded by her family.
Laura fought cancer with such strength, positivity and never once let it dictate what she did and battled so fervently every day.

To keep people informed of her story and to share her experience. Laura wrote a blog called Warrior Diaries
http://warriordiaries.co.uk/
She was in a battle, and she fought so bravely, a true Warrior. She wasn’t a lone warrior though, she had support from a huge army of family, friends and most of all the support of her faith. Throughout Laura's journey she was always so positive, an inspiration in the face of such adversity.

Laura touched so many people throughout her journey and was a shining light to those around her during the darkest of battles, and will be indescribably missed by so so many.

Mark & Laura's amazing young girls will grow up with the memory of their strongest, most loving, bravest mum you could ever know.

Bowel Cancer UK is the leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

Now let's get training!!
