Fundraising for Marie Curie

I am taking on the Rockies 5 Peak Challenge from 18th-26th June 2022!
So why am I taking on this challenge?
I'm trekking in memory of my dad, Colin Doake. He passed away on the 16th December 2019 after a 3 year battle with Mesothelioma (asbestos cancer).
In Dad's last year, Marie Curie provided him and my Mum with invaluable support through weekly day therapy. They provided me with counselling when it all got too much and at the start of December when Dad was admitted to the hospice, he was given the most incredible care. As a family we could not have done without the care and support of the team at Marie Curie Belfast.
It's now just over a week until I head off to Canada. A group of us of all ages from Northern Ireland are heading out together on this challenge to raise money for Marie Curie - Northern Ireland.
Covid has really hit charities like Marie Curie hard and now more than ever they need support. We were so fortunate that when Dad was being cared for at the hospice we had no restrictions. It’s so important that Marie Curie can continue to be able to give the same level of care and support to those with terminal illness so that no family is left without help when they need it the most. What they do in the hospice is invaluable and I want to raise as much as I can so that other families can be cared for and supported in their most difficult days.
