Cure CLCN4 is a UK registered charity aimed at providing support, raising awareness, and funding medical research for effective treatments for CLCN4, a rare genetic condition that causes intellectual disability and other problems such as epilepsy, behavioral disorders, and movement disorders.
Cure CLCN4 was set up by Peter and Gina, the parents of a wonderful little girl called Daphne, who suffers from CLCN4. When Daphne was diagnosed, all the doctors knew about the condition was that the CLCN4 gene change is associated with intellectual disability and speech delay - and that there is currently no cure. No cure was not good enough, and so Peter and Gina embarked on the adventure of setting up CureCLCN4, a medical research charity with the aim of advancing the much-needed basic science and translational research in this condition.
Cure CLCN4s story is a story of hope; hope that one day there will be a cure for Daphne and children like her.
