Story
Hey guys,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am going to be hiking the Yorkshire Three Peaks on July 19th and need your help!
As some of you may know I was working with the elderly and come across dementia more often than not. I would like to raise awareness of this wonderful charity, show my support and appreciation for the ongoing research.
A poem I wrote for my nanny Lena.
For Lena.
I remember the days when we would go round,
We would run riot in her flat,
Laughs and jokes would be found,
She would visit time and again for dinner,
And sit in the garden to watch us compete,
Kind Lena never called a winner,
For Lena was wonderfully sweet.
As time passed she became more frail,
She would still laugh and joke,
And tell us an anecdotal tale,
But she could no longer be at home,
Through no fault of her own,
We would sit with her and encourage her mind to roam,
Remind her of all of the things that she does know.
She would repeat her stories,
Laughter would fill the room,
She would recall all of her glories,
A wonderful life one could easily assume.
Towards the end we became more aware,
Nanny Lena was poorly,
Leaving only her stare,
For Lena we miss you sorely.
For Lena.
