Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 18th July 2019 I will be embarking on a 7 day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The charity for which I am completing the climb for is Learning for Life. They are a local charity based in Consett, County Durham, they provide specialist services for adults aged 16 plus who have a diverse range of complex needs and disabilities.
Learning for Life provides a stimulating, safe and innovative learning environment for adults with a diverse range of learning, emotional, behavioural and physical disabilities. Their ethos is to provide a personalised approach to learning which encourages: building confidence, enabling communication, fulfilling aspirations and promoting individual choice. The charity aims to be a leading local provider of specialist education and social care, where all learners are given the most enriching and rewarding experience possible.
I took the time to visit the education centre just before Christmas and was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm shown by the students when I told them about my challenge. This to me confirmed I had made the right choice in choosing this charity and re-assured me that they would be forever grateful for the gesture.
