Story

On the 2nd of April 2023, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon (no more full marathons for me!). I'm raising funds for the snappily (not!) titled charity Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or JDRF.  This is the only UK charity dedicated to Type 1 Diabetes, funding research to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  Unlike Type 2 diabetes, Type 1 is an auto-immune condition; it is not caused by poor diet or an unhealthy lifestyle. In fact, it isn’t caused by anything that someone did or didn’t do, and there was nothing anyone who has T1D could have done to prevent it.  In Type 1 diabetes, the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.  As many of you know, my very-much better-half, Nicola, has had this condition for many years.  Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
