Story
Those in the licensing sector will know all about The Light Fund and the many, many charities and beneficiaries it has supported over the last 13 years or so. I like to think I have been a supporter through various ways - from fundraising at our own firm's events, to my own donations, and offering help as often as possible. For anyone outside of licensing - The Light Fund is an industry charity which has raised over 1.2 million pounds to support countless charities. You can read more about it here: http://www.lightfund.org, or search 'Light Fund' on the industry's website - LicensingSource.net
Anyway, the time seemed right to get involved in a real challenge. So when the idea for 'a bloody long bike ride' was first muttered, I decided I would commit to it no matter what. It then developed into 325 odd miles in 4 days (route still being tweaked) across several countries.
Too late to back out!
The (gruesome) daily schedule looks like this:
Day 1 – Bristol – Glenneath - Carmarthen - 12 June
Approx. 116 miles
Day 2 - Carmarthen – Fishguard – Wexford – 13 June
Approx. 45 miles
Day 3 - Wexford to Carlow Town – 14 June
Approx. 72 miles
Day 4 - Carlow to Dublin – 15 June
Approx. 68 miles
So here I am training for 'a bloody long bike ride'. I've bought a bike, joined the local cycling club, and am now out several times a week come rain or shine. I'm a brilliant downhill cyclist. Uphill... not so good!
There will be 100 industry friends and colleagues on this epic journey, taking place on 11 to 15 June 2018. I want to raise lots of dosh to help support those who are way less fortunate than you and me. And I would love your help in achieving this.
Please, do support me, if only to laugh at a fat man in lycra...
