Story
Rob Sylvester was a passionate man with a very dry sense of humour. He had a keen interest in craftsmanship, music and was a talented maker. He spent the majority of his life living in London and working as a film editor, initially for the BBC and then freelance. He was respected and loved by many colleagues.
Following his retirement he moved to New Milton with Hilary. He finally found time to pursue some of his passions, becoming an avid sailor and fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning a boat. He loved to explore the New Forest with the Labradors. He made many true friends in Hampshire, through sailing, Oxfam, woodworking and the dogs.
In April 2023, Rob was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. After a short illness he died peacefully with Dora, the faithful Labrador on his bed on the 9th May 2023.Throughout his illness he received truly exceptional care from Oakhaven, initially at home and then at the Hospice. Their expertise, kindness and support were extraordinary. We would like other people to benefit from Oakhaven Hospice, which is funded mostly by charity rather than the NHS.
If you wish to give a donation in his memory we would really appreciate that.
