Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page.
Imagine having crippled legs, unable to walk or lead a normal life and being treated as the village joke.
Imagine having sight, and then as a child lose that sight due to disease from contaminated water.
You can help to make a difference…..
The School for the Blind & Handicapped is in Cameroon, West Africa and is a charity which takes in children from 8 – 18 years old who are either crippled from rickets or polio, or are children with blindness or severe eye problems.
The children come to the centre and gain physical and mental strength before going to hospital to receive operations on their crippled limbs. A few weeks after surgery they travel to a rehabilitation hospital where they can spend up to 4 months painstakingly learning to walk for the first time using metal callipers and crutches for support. For most children, after about 2 years operations, if their legs heal well, they will leave the centre walking freely.
The blind children are taught independent living skills, Braille and basket work. During their time all the children receive primary education and are taught vocational skills.
The children now have opportunities in life, they leave walking with their heads held high, educated and with skills to gain employment in the future. It is a truly wonderful thing!
So, on Wednesday 29th April, I will be starting a 12-day walk from St Bees in Cumbria, to Robin Hood's bay in North Yorkshire. If that wasn't enough, after arriving at Robin Hood's bay we are immediately setting out the following day to Ravenscar, to complete the Lyke Wake walk; 40 miles to Osmotherly, which has to be completed in less than 24-hours!
So please help the disadvantaged children of the Cameroon walk again by sponsoring our walk, and make a real, direct difference to their lives today.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The School , via the Christadelphian Meal-a-Day Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The Christadelphian Mead-a-Day fund will ensure that 100% of all money raised goes to the school.
So please sponsor me now! We all really appreciate it.
