Story
Everybody has had a challenging time recently. For all of us those challenges and the ways in which we try to cope are different.
For those with Dementia and for those caring for those with Dementia this has been a very challenging time.
Even before the Covid-19 Pandemic though the team at Dementia UK were doing brilliant work to help all those who have had their lives turned upside down by this cruel and poorly understood illness.
So I'm taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon 2020 and the Great North Run 2020 to support families facing dementia across the UK.
Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through their Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving them compassionate one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions that can be difficult to find elsewhere. I have seen, first hand, their brilliant work.
Even if social distancing means these races don't run - I will run two half marathons locally on the dates they were set to be. It is all I can do to say 'thank you'.
I know things are hard for everyone right now but please spare something. It will make a difference to so many people. Thank you.
