Progress is being made in research into dementia and the ongoing fight to understand and ultimately prevent or cure this terrible disease. Funding is crucial.

This will be my third year hiking for ARUK, and, as I have said in my previous fundraising pages, everyone will know someone affected by dementia. This could be a sufferer, or their family and friends who go through the painful experience of caring for them while sometimes seeing their loved one in distress.

*****EXTRA CHALLENGE*****

In addition to the two ARUK organised events below, I have also completed the London Ultra 55. This is a 55k (34 mile) challenge from Woolwhich to Richmond that has to be done in under 11 hours. I managed this on a very hot 24th June.

The Peak District Hike  is a 26 mile route starting in Bakewell and takes us into Monsal Dale and Deep Dale before joining the Pennine Bridleway and High Peak Trail. We then drop down into Carsington and follow the footpath along the edge of the reservoir before crossing the finish line.

At the same time Jan will be taking on an 8 mile hike around Carsington Water.

Hopefully my feet will still be in working order as a week later it's down to the south coast.

The Jurassic Coast hike takes us along the amazing Dorset coast and includes spectacular landmarks such as Corfe Castle.
