Story
So my Brother David Fletcher has survived Cancer on 5 occasions (yes five) from the ages between 19-39, his strength and fitness have helped him survive and I wanted to do a Triathlon to honour this.
Normally I do Ironman distance but Chantilly is half that distance (1.9 mile swim, 56mile bike, 13.1mile run). So what makes this so hard you might think, well to be honest I always suffer more during the half distance events then doing full distance plus I want to push for a top 10 place, it's only afterwards where full distance shatters me for a few weeks.
Dave's treatment is similar to this where he suffers immensely during treatment but bounces back so quickly and positively, he was so positive last year during his treatment that the mental health nurse thought he was taking it as a joke as he only ever spoke about running and triathlons, he wasn't joking thou, he certainly knew what was coming and his mental focus on his Triathlon and fitness helped him cope.
If you would like to know more about Dave's story then read this link or watch channel 4 on the 19th August about 7am ish http://www.activitywalesevents.com/2017/03/monday-motivation-david-fletcher/
Macmillan have been there a few times for Dave and offer support whether financial or guidance with extreme knowledgeable to help give others hope before, during and after cancer.
Dave talks to people through his fitness and achieves goals very quickly on his bounce back to not only give himself reassurance but give others hope who are going through similar experiences. Hope is a word dave uses all the time and I hope I will get a top 10 place at Chantilly just to make it a little harder for myself.
I also hope you'll donate £20 but a tenner will do, don't forget gift aid,
Many thanks.
