Story

Please could you support me in raising money for medical research through cycling 300 miles from London to Roubaix, Belgium.

I am funding  raising again in memory of my sister Sarah's life. This was over far too soon as she had a rare cancer known as Phaeochromocytoma. She was diagnosed at the age of 13 as having NF1 (Neuro-Fibromatosis 1)and at that time doctors dismissed it out of hand that this would not develop into cancer. She was never monitored and when it was discovered, it was too late. It was so sad as she was a Macmillan nurse who had dedicated her life to care for patients.

My youngest daughter Clarice has CMN (Congenital Melanocytic Naevus) which is mole present at birth. Caring Matters Now is the UK charity which supports this condition. Clarice is monitored by Great Ormond Street and Southampton for any changes to her CMN. It was also Great Ormond Street where Clarice had plastic surgery when she was 4 years old and again this year when she was 10 years old.

Caring Matters Now is supported by the amazing and ground breaking research of Dr Kinsler and her team at the Crick Institute.

Both NF1 and CMN are congenital genetic anomalies and are not related.

Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children's lives through medical research.
