Story

Melvin Carlton Roberts passed sadly at 3.15pm on Sunday 15 January 2012. Although he has gone too soon, all those who knew him will remember him as a kind, considerate and caring young man who touched everyone he came into contact with.   He had a true zest for life and although he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis shortly after graduating and suffered from it throughout his twenties, he refused to allow his illness to stop him from achieving his ambitions and growing into the man we were so proud to know and love.

Although, colitis didn't cause Melvin's death, we think it would be a fitting tribute to Melvin to ensure that awareness of the illness is continued to be raised and we are asking people to donate to Crohn’s and Colitis UK, a charity dedicated to research into the illness.

Recently Darren Fletcher, a footballer for Manchester United was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.  Melvin was pleased to see that Darren had publicly spoken about his illness and was encouraging other sufferers to raise awareness. For those of you who are interested here’s a link to the article:
