Story
We are fundraising for a new Centre for Rare Dementia Support as former carers for our partners who were diagnosed with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queens Square. We received amazing support from these group meetings throughout Ron and Noel's journeys with PCA. We understand the need for a centre with the support, education, and research it can provide to others experiencing rare, young onset dementias.
The National Brain Appeal has supported Rare Dementia Support (RDS) since the first meetings in 1994. RDS runs regular, specialist groups, in London and regionally, providing newsletters, contact networks and a digital platform with access to information and advice for people living with or at risk of inherited, atypical and young onset dementias.
Our vision is to offer support to people, nationally and internationally, by substantially expanding RDS. Please help us reach the first £250,000 towards this campaign to create the world's first centre of excellence for rarer dementias. It will exemplify how best to reach those living with a rare dementia, through the involvement of its members and visitors in research, and will lead in the bespoke education of families, healthcare and other relevant professionals.
