I am taking part in Children 1st's Triple Thistle Challenge to support families and children throughout Scotland.
Challenge Trek 1- Walking all of Edinburgh's 7 summits : on Saturday 17th July 2021 I will be doing a trek to the summit of each Edinburgh's seven hills that surround the city. The route begins in Leith, and follows historic waterways, and forgotten railways, ends with at the summit of an extinct volcano, Arthur's Seat The route is 35km of ascents and descents (total ascent = 900m) in order to complete this first Thistle Challenge.
Challenge Trek 2 - Walking, canoeing and cycling around Loch Lochy and Fort William : on Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August 2021 I will be combining cycling, trekking and canoeing into one tiring weekend of activity. Saturday involves cycling from Fort William to Loch Lochy, and canoeing along the River Lochy. Sunday is a climb to the summit of Ben Nevis, and a drive back to Edinburgh.
Challenge Trek 3 - Hiking up to the summit of Ben Nevis ... in winter! : This final challenge is on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March 2022. The first day will involve practicing key skills and techniques, from kicking steps in the snow, to using crampons and ice axes. The second day is a winter ascent of Ben Nevis.
Children 1st does fantastic work supporting families with financial, emotional or mental health worries. Their work is more important than ever.
