Story
I was originally in the London Marathon for 2018 but had to pull out due to an injury that prevented me doing the training. I was gutted but in hindsight it was for the best as I am only just at a level where I can do distance walking for about 90mins before I can feel any discomfort.
Fortunately Children with Cancer UK offered me another one of their Golden Bond places for the 2019 marathon and I will be doing this, even if it me crawling the entire way round!
As part of my plan I intended to lose 6st and I had been doing well with this but then I threw the towel in when I had to pull out. I am back on the weight loss plan and have lost 4.5lbs from when I originally started. I am aiming to lose another 4st 1.5lbs by following a healthier eating plan but still allowing myself treats..
I have set myself a target of £5000 as the money is going to a cause that is very close to my heart and the money raised is crucial to allow them to continue the amazing work they do including research, education and support for the families that are or have been unfortunate to have to face this horrible disease.
I am dedicating the run to my older brother Steven Stones, who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) before I had the chance to meet him.
Although his death was officially recorded as SIDS, it was later found that he had a tumour in his throat.
My wife and myself also had a scare with one of our daughters, Kyla, where it was thought that she might have Leukaemia.
I would really appreciate all donations, large or small, to help me reach my fundraising target or even better, smash it!!!
Thank you and best wishes,
Robert
