Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year I travelled to The Gambia with http://www.footballgambia.org/ to coach individual players/teams and coaches.
A UEFA A Licence coach ‘Scouse’ Munro, successfully ran 3 coaching courses in The Gambia as part of the trip to grassroots and Division 1 and 2 coaches. Feedback from the participants was very positive. The only negative point was that they wanted the course to last longer!
It was an amazing experience and anyone out there that has footie in their blood will surely want to help.
I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in footie both as a player and coach for many years, playing with some fantastic people.
I now want to give something back to the sport by helping a Coach and Team in The Gambia.
Twenty four year old Buba Touray is no ordinary coach. He attended FG's level 1 coaching course in January run by Rob 'Scouse' Munro who recognised Buba’s exceptional coaching skills. After falling down a well when he was 12 months old and the victim of a terrible hospital error, his hands were then amputated by mistake! Despite this, he performed well at school and passed his exams with flying colours.
Buba known as Pires (Arsenal Legend) was a great player but to avoid injury he decided to focus on football coaching. He set up his own football academy in his home town of Mandinaring, which has 3 teams: under 7s, 9s and 15s. FG has donated a sizeable amount of kit to Buba but he still needs support to manage his club efficiently. Buba coaches 6 times a week and has a responsibility to provide for his family.
He emails me regularly
Hello scouse,
My regards to you and your family... it has really been a while since I wrote to you through emails.
I am very grateful to you and enclosed you some of our village football club pictures.
Three (3) players of mine graduated from the academy and have been selected in the team to take part in the ongoing DISTRICT TOURNAMENT here.
I am also very grateful for all your help as two of my students are now playing at divisional level football this year.
They are SANNA JARJU and MODOU LAMIN TOURAY both are 15years of age. SANNA JARJU playing in the first division and MODOU LAMIN TOURAY playing in the second division. this is an amazing achievements and without your help it would not be possible.
I am very happy that my academy is really improving as I wished,
I am also sending thankful regards to you for your help. great complements and concerns for the academy which is leading us in these great successes.
We are very thankful with you
. Your sincere friend,
Buba from The Gambia.
Donations are going great and hopefully with your help we can help more people in th Gambia.
Yahya Manneh thanks scouse for the efforts you are doing for football Gambia and you are truly a hero who always learn from old memories. Old soldier never dies.
Yahya works in the office in Gambia and he does an amazing job with no equipment. I would like to make his life a little easier by helping to furnish the office, just the basics that we all expect, desk, filing cabinet, pens, paper etc.
The office is the main contact place for anyone in The Gambia that needs help of any sort. Football teams/schools/individuals contact Yahya for anything and everything. I would like to have a slush fund available for Yahya so that he can offer more help to anyone in need. Football players, their families etc,
None of this would be possible without the dedication of Ian Stapleton the founder of Football Gambia, an amazing man.
My part is only small in this project, Thanks everyone so far for their generousity, please keep it going.
