Story

I am raising money for ABF The Soldiers' Charity, a charity which provides vital support to soldiers, veterans and their families in times of need.

The Soldiers’Charity is the backbone Army charity. For my Regiment (The Royal Scots), which will be very similar to all other regiments, the charity  provides tremendous financial support (approximately a third of every grant) to look after those in need. In addition this wonderful charity gives to numerous other worthy charities which  support service personnel,  veterans and dependants. Particularly prominent, just now, are those charities which assist with mental health - an increasing concern for veterans of Northern Ireland, the Falklands, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is my third big bike ride for the Charity.  You would think that I would be a slimline racing snake but sadly not, despite my best efforts during lockdown. It is going to be another substantial challenge - around 70 miles each day for 5 days, fortunately made so much more bearable by short battlefield talks, along the route, all about the Battle for Arnhem in World War II.

I do hope you can support this very special charity.
