Story
This Autumn I'll be running the London Marathon in support of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). I'm aiming to fundraise £2,000.
Every day, 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. Too many still face isolation and depression, unable to achieve their potential in a world that blocks their way.
I was born with oculocutaneous albinism, an inherited disorder that means I have a visual impairment.
Growing up, I was lucky to receive great support including resources from the RNIB. The RNIB supports almost 2 million people in the UK with sight loss and won't stop until every last psychological and physical barrier has gone for good.
With your help and the money fundraised here, RNIB can be there when people need them most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you donate is helping create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
- £10 could cover the cost of 100 blind and partially sighted people tuning into RNIB Connect Radio, run by and for people with sight loss, to promote independence and reduce social isolation.
- £55 could help someone understand their eye condition, the treatment options and what it means for their life, through a series of in-depth, personalised advice and support sessions from our Eye Health Information Service.
- £532 could run the RNIB's Helpline for one hour, so that blind and partially sighted people can contact them with any questions they might have.
I'll be updating my journey on here as I train for the Marathon. Thanks so much for your support!
