Story
My son Toby has a brain tumour which has hugely impacted his life. His diagnosis when he was five, followed by turbulent years of hospitalisation, long form chemotherapy and dangerous invasive surgeries, was more than any child should have to face. The subsequent impact of the tumour, and these blunt treatments, means that he is still living with his diagnosis every day. He is one of thousands of children battling this condition and outcome.
So thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGivingpage. I am raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, and specifically The Everest Centre for Research into Paediatric Low Grade Brain Tumours, which we founded with the charity in 2017. You can learn more about the research centre here - The Everest Centre - Paediatric Low Grade Brain Tumour Research(thebraintumourcharity.org) - it is a ground breaking international initiative that is offering real hope for families as it works towards bringing new treatments to children. We managed to fund the first 5 year cycle of research through fundraising, and I am now committed with your help to fund the second cycle, to complete the work we started and ultimately ensure better outcomes for children with brain tumours.
So at the end of February 2023, alongside a team of others I will take part in Everest in the Alps - a four day Alpine endurance challenge designed to push those taking part to their limits. We will ski over 60 km uphill, achieving the vertical height of Everest - that's 8,848m. You can learn more about it here: The Everest in the Alps Challenge- YouTube.
I would love your support for me, and for Toby and for other children like him who suffer at the hands of this cruel disease. Thank you.
