Story
Hi everyone and thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page!
This summer I along with 24 other Durham students have the opportunity of a lifetime - an expedition to Tanzania through DUCK (Durham University Charity Kommittee). We plan to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain at over 19,000 feet and then work on commnity projects to give a better quality of life to some of Tanzania's most disadvantaged communities.
I've always wanted to make a personal contribution to the lives of those less fortunate than myself so when this amazing opportunity to do so came along I jumped at it.
As a group our expedition will raise £35,000 for the Save the Children Emergency Fund which does incredible work to help children all over the world when natural disasters strike. My personal fundraising is the intimidating sum of £3100, £1400 of which is a direct donation to Save the Children and the rest of which I have to raise to cover my costs allowing me to get to Tanzania, climb the mountain and work on the projects. All money donated on this page will go directly to Save the Children although if you are interested in contributing towards my own costs as well please get in touch.
The Emergency Fund literally saves the lives of children by responding fast and distributing relief and food rations when disaster strikes, like the terrible flooding that has occurred recently in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The Fund does incredible work aiding children caught up in wars, famines, earthquakes and droughts through no fault of their own. Please take the time to visit the Save the Children webpage (http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/childrens-emergency-fund.htm) and I'm sure you'll see how important this cause is.
Your donations will give these children a fighting chance of survival, so please be as generous as you can and provide Gift Aid if it applies to you as it of huge benefit at no extra cost. All your donations, big and small, are invaluable in helping me reach my target and are truly appreciated.
Thank you so much for you help, I'm sure its going to be a summer that I'll never forget!
