Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know I have been persuaded by my friend Paul to join him in ealy September for a bit of light exercise. Paul and I have done a few events before, including the Year 2000 Sydney Marathon, but this is the craziest by far.
We are doing the Monaco Half Ironman. Yes I know, we could have tried a little harder and at least managed the whole Ironman, perhaps next year! For now I will be happy to make it round the 1.9km swim, 90 km bike ride and 21.1km run course in one piece. The event is on , just a few short weeks away, and there is no turning back now.
It seems mad to do the event in the first instance and even more so to do it and not to raise some money for charity! I have therefore decided to raise money for The Gift of Sight. A charity very close to my family.
Five years ago my father was diagnosed as having age-related macular degeneration, a disease that causes blindness in many people. Fortunately, the Macular Degeneration team at have managed to slow the deterioration of Dad's eyesight and whilst he can not see like he used to, hopefully he will retain some sight.
This team and the research they do is funded by the charity, The Gift of Sight. Their website is here:

(In fact my Dad is one of the people in the video - see if you can spot the family likeness!)
