Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This page has been created to help raise funds for Marie Curie - a charity which has helped my family for over a decade. I will be taking part in the Belfast City Half Marathon on Sunday 17th September. This will be my first ever time running in an organised race but enjoying the prospect of the challenge!
Why I'm Running & Raising Money for Marie Curie
On Christmas Day, 1999, my dad Robert 'Bobby' Magee was taken from us after a long battle with cancer. At the age of 6, with my sister Deborah not much older than me and my mum still young also - this tragedy changed my life forever. Despite suffering with this illness, his final days were made as comfortable and painless as could be by the fantastic staff of Marie Curie Dundonald. Following his passing, this charity provided invaluable support for my family in a difficult time.
Losing my dad at such a young age could have destroyed me, but I've been able to channel this ultimate loss into positive means to help motivate myself to achieve my goals - this Half Marathon is my next challenge.
Cancer is a horrible and relentless disease that effects so many families across the UK and the world.
I would really appreciate any donations, regardless of size, for this outstanding charity.
Thank you for your time,
Robert.
