Story
Between 1 and 3 April 2019 Robert (“Rob”) Kimber, a former Bishop Wordsworth’s School pupil will be aiming to complete a 60 mile charity walk to Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club and he hopes to be able to finish on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Over thirty years ago Rob’s late father Tony Kimber completed a charity event on his 60th birthday when he played 60 holes of golf in one day at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club. He raised sufficient funds to be able to purchase an electric wheelchair for a 12 year old local lad who suffered from Spina Bifida. Tony would go on to be captain and later president of the golf club and his service was eventually recognised by Tony becoming an honorary life member.
Rob said that in recent years Tony and his beloved wife Sylvia had sadly passed away but now he wanted to be able to give something back to the people of Salisbury in recognition of the love and support that they and he had felt whilst living there.
Rob therefore hopes to raise in excess of £2,000 to support the Stars Appeal for Salisbury District Hospital where any money that he raises can be put to use helping to create the best possible experience for patients and their families by funding extra care and equipment over and above that provided by the national health service.
